Salsiccia with roasted nuts on a bed of onions

Salsiccia with roasted nuts is a quick and easy recipe. The onion rings are toasted in the broth with the sweet wine. The pork sausages are placed on top, garnished with toasted walnuts.


Main course For 4 people

5 large onions
1.5 l of sweet wine, for example, muscat or gewürztraminer
1 litre of vegetable broth
1 bay leaf
1 small piece of cinnamon
2 cloves
4 pork sausages (Italian salsiccia sausages)
cooking oil
Roasted nuts
60 g of walnut kernels
2 teaspoons of grated Parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon of dried marjoram or oregano
freshly ground black pepper

How to proceed Salsiccia with roasted nuts

Cut the walnuts into quarters and toast them in a pan without adding fat. Add the grated parmesan and season with marjoram and pepper. Let the roasted nuts cool on a plate.

Cut the onions into slices of approx. 1 cm. Bring the wine with the broth and spices to a boil in a large skillet. Stew the onions in the broth, cover over medium heat for approx. 45 minutes. Meanwhile, brown the sausages in a pan greased with oil for approx. 10 minutes.

Arrange the onion rings on the plates. Serve the sausages on the rings and sprinkle with the nut mixture.
