Homemade Pomegranate Liqueur, an easy recipe for a homemade liqueur to prepare, pack and give to friends for Christmas. In autumn, pomegranates abound and in my garden, they are very large, the beans are very sweet, but it is not always easy to taste this fruit because of the seeds. I tried this liqueur and found it delicious so I decided to share the recipe. The only trick is to shell the fruit well, avoiding the white skin that gives it a bitter taste, if it can be useful, look at the first method indicated in the article on how to open the pomegranate. With these doses, we get about a litre of liquor.
Calories, nutritional composition and properties of pomegranate
The pomegranate contains 70 kcal per 100 g. The pomegranate fruit stands out above all for its antioxidant qualities, being rich in vitamin C and numerous phenols, among which we mention gallic acid, grenadine, punicacorteina, punicafolina, punicalin, delphinidin and other ellagitannins particularly active against free radicals. To underline the abundance of Punic acid (from the scientific name of the pomegranate: Punica granatum), particularly effective as a breast cancer inhibitor. Returning to vitamins, even before vitamin C, it is rich in vitamin K, especially important for children, also followed by the vitamins of group B and those A and E. The properties attributed to this fruit are: antioxidant, antitumor, anticoagulant, antidiarrheal, astringent, gastroprotective, moisturizing, antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, deworming, vasoprotective.
2 large or three small pomegranates
1/2 litre of alcohol
1 cinnamon stick
375 g of sugar
500 ml of water
Preparation-Homemade Pomegranate Liqueur
Let’s take two large pomegranates, or three small ones and shell them. Then we pour the beans into an airtight glass jar and pour 1/2 litre of alcohol.
We add a cinnamon stick, 3 cloves, and lemon zest.
Then close the jar and let it steep for a week or 10 days, remembering to shake the jar every day.
After the time, prepare a syrup by mixing the sugar and water in a saucepan and bringing to the boil. Let it cool completely.
Then we open the jar and filter the contents with a colander, pouring the alcoholic liquid into the syrup. We mix and bottle the Homemade Pomegranate Liqueur. Then we wait from one week to 10 days and the liqueur is ready.
